What does a Housing Officer actually do?
Over the summer, we’ve been following some of our Housing Officers out and about across north Manchester to give residents a behind-the-scenes look at the job – and the different ways our teams work with residents and communities every day.
Our four-part ‘Day in the Life of a Housing Officer’ video series has taken us from community events and home visits to Estate Walkabouts and a Community Skip Day:
Out and about in our communities
We started the series with Housing Officer Amar, joining him at one of our Summer Fun Days and finding out more about the importance of getting out into communities, meeting residents and building relationships.
Next, we followed Mark on an Estate Walkabout, where Housing Officers regularly walk their neighbourhoods alongside residents and colleagues to identify issues, discuss concerns and look at ways we can improve the local area.
For our third video, we joined Chantelle on tenant home visits, giving us a look at another important part of the Housing Officer role and the support they provide to residents in their homes.
Finally, we headed to the Troydale estate with Sophie for a Community Skip Day. Alongside helping residents dispose of unwanted rubbish, the team were litter picking, helping to clear gardens and speaking to residents about what they would like to see improved on their estate.

Of course, these are just a few examples of what our Housing Officers do. They’re a familiar face in our neighbourhoods and can help with a wide range of questions and issues relating to your home, tenancy and community.
