There’s a new addition to our White Moss Road reception area – a community bookcase created in partnership with our local libraries and Read Manchester.
The bookcase is designed to help residents discover the many free services available through their local library while also encouraging people of all ages to enjoy reading. Visitors to reception are welcome to have a browse while they’re waiting, take a book, or leave one behind for someone else to enjoy.
Reading plays an important role in improving wellbeing, education and life opportunities, and Manchester continues to promote reading for pleasure across the city as part of the National Year of Reading 2026.

Thanks to a generous donation from Read Manchester, the bookcase is already stocked with a range of titles for different ages. The children’s books have proven especially popular, and we’re currently looking for donations of good-quality books for babies, toddlers, younger children and primary school-aged readers.
If you have any books at home that your family has outgrown, please consider donating them so they can find a new home on the Whitemoss bookcase and be enjoyed by another reader.
