Safeguarding Adults Week

17/11/2025

Ann Craft Trust Safeguarding Adults

Safeguarding Adults Week takes place 17- 21 November 2025.

This national campaign is led by the Ann Craft Trust, a leading UK authority on safeguarding adults.

It’s a great opportunity for us to reflect on our responsibilities towards safeguarding residents living in the homes we look after.

This year’s focus is on prevention, taking action early to stop abuse before it happens.

While it’s important to respond when things go wrong, it’s even more powerful to create safer environments from the start.

We’re part of MAPS (Multi-Agency Prevention and Support), which brings together key organisations across Manchester including housing, social care, health, mental health, drug and alcohol services and the voluntary sector to provide early intervention to Manchester residents who are facing adversity.

The service aims to manage health difficulties and behaviours which can increase demand on key services and impact resident's health and wellbeing.

Referrals and cases are discussed in multi-agency forums where services can develop a shared action plan.

Why it matters: Prevention helps avoid harm, neglect, and isolation. We all have a role to play in creating safer communities. Speaking up early can protect someone from reaching crisis point.

If you are worried about someone, we can help, we can visit the person at home, and we can take your referral to MAPS and decide together how we can offer support.

  • If you suspect that the child or adult is in immediate danger then phone the police on 999
  • If you believe that the child or adult needs emergency medical treatment, phone an ambulance on 999
  • If there is no immediate risk, contact us on 03000 123 123.
