We were delighted to host the very first session of YO161 (Young Opinions – 0161) at the fantastic Manchester Youth Zone last week.
The group brings together young residents from across North Manchester to share their views, experiences and ideas, helping us ensure that young people have a voice in shaping the services and communities around them.
Several of the young people attending had won tickets at our BRITs-themed event earlier this year, and they arrived with the same enthusiasm, energy and honesty that made the event such a success.
During the session, we explored what living in North Manchester means to them. From the things they value most in their communities to the challenges they face and the changes they would like to see, the conversations were insightful, thoughtful and incredibly valuable.

The feedback gathered will play an important role in helping to shape our developing Resident Engagement Strategy, ensuring that the voices of young residents are reflected in our future plans.
It wasn't all serious discussion, though. The session also included food, activities and the chance for everyone to get to know one another, with attendees leaving with a goody bag to thank them for taking part.

We're committed to working alongside young people and creating meaningful opportunities for them to influence the decisions that affect their lives. This first session was a fantastic start, and we're excited to see how YO161 develops in the months ahead.
