Last year’s projects: Making a real difference

Last year, Hobin’s Community Fund supported a wide range of inspiring projects across Manchester. Here’s how some of our successful applicants used their funding to benefit their communities:

  • Taijutsu Starter Kits – Bee-Safe Manchester CIC
Bee-Safe provides martial arts training focused on family wellbeing. With funding, they delivered free starter kits to children from low-income families—helping young people build confidence and learn self-protection skills.
  • Speak Up: English for Young Voices – Igreja Evangelica Pentecostal a Pedra de Sião
This project delivered free English lessons for Portuguese-speaking children, helping young people build confidence, make friends, and feel more at home in their community.
  • Rugby for the Community – Blackley Rangers RUFC
A growing grassroots club bringing together over 70 local children each week, using funding to expand sessions and develop future volunteers.
  • Adventures in the Wild – Rock Paper Write CIC
Combining outdoor exploration with creativity, this project helped children learn bushcraft skills while expressing themselves through writing and art.
  • Growing Vegetables and Potatoes in the Garden – Kentmere Court
Residents created a shared garden space where neighbours can grow food, stay active, and connect with one another in an inclusive environment.
  • Walikale Together Foundation
Offering practical home support, healthy living advice, and creative meetups, this project supports vulnerable people and strengthens community connections.
  • Mindful Mums – Mindfulness and Wellbeing
Supporting women through pregnancy and early motherhood, this project created a welcoming space for relaxation, creativity, and peer support.
  • North Manchester Athletic FC
An under-15s football club giving young people a safe, active environment to build confidence, skills, and friendships.
  • Inspirations Dancetroupe
Bringing joy and opportunity to children in Newton Heath, funding is helping repair their minibus so they can continue performing and competing.
